How Stock Photo Checker works
Upload the photos you're about to send to Adobe Stock, Shutterstock or Getty. Stock Photo Checker checks each one the way a reviewer would, tells you what to fix, and sorts your folder into the photos to submit and the ones to leave out.
Upload your photos
Choose or drop them on Check photos: JPEG, PNG, TIFF or WebP, full size as you'd submit them, up to 120 MB each and 500 in an album. They go into a new album straight away. Nothing is checked yet.
Choose what to check
Each album has its own settings: tick the checks you want and pick Normal (a typical Adobe Stock or Shutterstock reviewer) or Strict (the pickiest, for Getty and iStock). New albums start from your own Settings.
Start, and watch it work
Press Start checking. The album page shows each photo as it's checked, usually a few seconds each, and fills in the results as they arrive. You can leave and come back: checking carries on.
Read the report
Every photo gets a verdict and a list of what was found, each with what to do about it:
- Likely rejected a problem agencies routinely reject for
- Check before submitting something that might be rejected
- Ready to submit nothing found
- Technical checks passed nothing found by the technical checks; logos, text and releases weren't checked
A focus map shows where the photo is sharp, the main subject is outlined, and similar shots are grouped with the best one recommended.
Decide, and sort your folder
Each photo starts as Approved, Rejected or Undecided from its verdict; change any of them. Then download the sorting script (Windows): put it in your photo folder and double-click it to move the approved and rejected photos, with their Nikon raw (.NEF) and .xmp files, into their own folders. It never deletes anything, and can put everything back. A CSV report of the whole album is a click away too.
What each photo is checked for
Size
At least 4 MP, the minimum at Adobe Stock and Shutterstock.
File format and JPEG quality
JPEG or PNG (with or without transparency); heavy JPEG compression.
Colour profile
sRGB (a file with no profile counts as sRGB); Adobe RGB, ProPhoto and Display P3 warn.
Focus and camera shake
The sharpest part at 100%, with a focus map; blur in one direction from camera shake; and whether the main subject itself is in focus (a free AI model on this server finds the subject).
Noise
In smooth areas and shadows, at 100%.
Exposure
Blown highlights, crushed shadows, very dark or very bright and flat, low-contrast photos, and whether the main subject itself is well exposed (a free AI model on this server finds the subject).
Level and straight
A tilted photo (verticals leaning one way, or a tilted horizon) and converging verticals, measured on straight lines; photos without them aren't judged.
Embedded title, keywords and camera
Brand names in keywords, too many or repeated keywords, file-name titles.
Duplicates and similar shots
Copies of your other photos, and groups of similar shots in this album (a free AI model on this server compares them).
What happens to your photos
Each original is kept only until its check finishes, then deleted; an album you never start is cleared after 7 days. The report keeps a reduced preview, a thumbnail and the findings until you delete the album. Every check runs on this server: your photos are never sent anywhere else. More in Privacy.
