Getting started

What does Stock Photo Checker do?

It checks the photos you're about to submit to stock agencies the way a reviewer would — size, focus, noise, exposure, file and colour, embedded keywords, duplicates and similar shots — and tells you which ones are likely to be rejected and why. Then it helps you sort your folder into the photos to submit and the ones to leave out.

How do I get an account?

Accounts open soon. You need one to check photos: everything you upload stays in your own account.

Why do I need to sign in?

Your albums, reports and settings are kept in your account, so only you can see them and you can come back to them. It also lets everyone have a fair share of the free checks each day.

Does it cost anything?

The technical checks are free: up to 100 photos a day with an account. The AI checks, which are coming soon, will be paid for with credits you buy once and keep — see Pricing. Payments are in test mode for now, so nothing can be bought or charged.

Which files can I upload?

JPEG, PNG, TIFF and WebP, up to 120 MB each and 500 photos in an album. Upload them at full size, exactly as you'd submit them: a reduced copy would be judged on its own pixels. Raw files can't be checked; check the JPEG you'll submit.

Checks and results

What do the verdicts mean?

Likely rejected at least one problem agencies routinely reject for, such as too small, out of focus or visible noise. Check before submitting something that might be rejected, or a note to look at. Ready to submit nothing was found. Technical checks passed nothing was found by the technical checks, but logos, brand names, readable text and releases were not checked.

If a photo is "Ready to submit", will the agency accept it?

Not necessarily. Reviewers are people, and they also judge things no software can: whether they want the subject, whether they have too many like it, composition and commercial appeal. Treat the verdict as guidance, and still look at every photo at 100% before you submit it.

My background is blurred on purpose. Will it be called out of focus?

No. Only the sharpest part of the photo has to be sharp, so a soft background is fine. Separately, the main subject is found and its own sharpness compared with the sharpest part: a subject much softer than, say, the wall behind it is flagged. Show focus map on a photo shows where it's sharp.

What does Strict do?

It asks for sharper focus, less noise and less clipping, like the pickiest reviewers (Getty and iStock). Choose it in Settings for new albums, or in an album's own settings before you start it.

Does it look for logos, people, property or brand names in the picture?

Not yet: that check needs an AI service that looks at what the photo shows, and it's being tested before it opens to everyone. Until then, look for logos, readable text, recognisable people (model releases) and private property (property releases) yourself. Brand names in your embedded keywords and title are already checked.

Can it tell whether an image is AI-generated?

Only from the file's own data: Content Credentials (from tools such as ChatGPT, Adobe Firefly and Microsoft Designer), the IPTC "digital source type" Midjourney and Google write, or the settings Stable Diffusion and ComfyUI store. It never guesses from the look. Many tools and editors strip this data.

Can it tell if a photo was enlarged?

Not reliably. Enlarging softens a photo and the focus check catches heavy enlargement, but a modest one can pass here and still be noticed by a reviewer.

What are "similar shots"?

Agencies often reject several photos of the same scene as "similar content". Photos in an album that show the same thing, even framed differently, are grouped side by side with their sharpness, exposure and noise. The sharpest is recommended, and one much softer than it is rejected automatically. Tick Keep on the ones you want.

Albums and sorting

Can I change an album's settings after I've started it?

No. Each full-size original is deleted as soon as it has been checked, so an album can't be checked again with other settings. Upload the photos again into a new album instead.

How does the sorting script work?

It's a small Windows .bat file made for that album. Put it in the folder with your photos and double-click it: approved photos move into an Approved folder and rejected ones into Rejected, each with its Nikon raw (.NEF) and .xmp file. It only touches that album's photos, only while their size still matches, and never deletes or overwrites anything. Option 2 in the script puts everything back.

How long are my albums kept?

Until you delete them. An album you upload but never start is cleared after 7 days, because the full-size originals wait on the server until they're checked.

Privacy and your account

Who can see my photos?

You, and the site owner, who can open any album to help when something goes wrong. Nobody else. Albums are behind your sign-in (or your guest cookie), so search engines can't reach them.

Are my photos sent anywhere?

No. Every check runs on Stock Photo Checker's own server, including the two small AI models that find the main subject and group similar shots.

The original is deleted as soon as it has been checked; the report keeps a reduced preview, a thumbnail and the findings.

I forgot my password.

Use Forgot password. The site owner sets a temporary one and sends it to you; you choose a new password when you sign in with it.

How do I change my password, or delete my account?

Change your password from Account → Change password. To delete your account and everything in it, ask the site owner.
